Annually in June thousands of Southern Right Whales visit the shores of Africa’s Southern most tip. The whales arrive from Antartica to mate, nurse their young and then leave to return in November of the same year.
The scenic Overberg coast with its high sea cliffs and rocky coves offer some of the best land-based whale watching sites.
The wine route includes the cellars in the Hemel and Aarde valley. It is known for its slow ripening vines, elegant Chardonnays and Pinot noirs.
